Annual 2009 Display: Caroling Procession

Summer Benefit Concert-
June 27th, 2009
 The Santa Monica Nativity Scenes held its first-ever benefit concert at Cantwell Auditorium of St. Monica Catholic Church on Saturday, June 27, 2009, to help pay for special projects for the Scenes. Six musical artists donated their time to perform before an enthusiastic audience. Before the concert and during intermission, attendees enjoyed a delicious buffet of desserts and browsed nearly 100 silent auction items. More than $9,000 was raised from this successful event.
Proceeds were used to commission descriptive scroll-like Scriptural narratives that will hang in each booth starting in 2009; to pay for the Scenes’ first Web site; and to start a fund for long-term repairs to the booths, including painting them a new green color and refurbishing the gateway arch sign for the Scenes in 2009.
On February 28, 2009, an Electronic Waste Recycling Event was held in the parking lot of St. Anne Catholic Church. Many community members dropped off old televisions, computers and electronic gear, which raised more than $400 for our displays.
We are excited and thankful for the good things the Lord is doing in our finances and would appreciate your support to help defray the approximately $18,000 of recurring annual costs, such as set-up, breakdown and storage of the booths; city fees to cover parking meters in front of the Scenes; for printing and mailing expenses; for advertising; and for insurance.
